JPO, Hello Kitty World, Chupcai Cafe and Creator Hotel...

Assalamualaikum…

Last story kan was about my trip to Sibu Island in Mersing. Okay from Jetty Tg Leman to Johor Premium Outlet is only about 1 hour and half driving time. Hence kami decided to pay a short visit to JPO instead of going home! Hahaha

This is our 2nd visit to JPO (1st was about 2 years ago). We noticed the outlets are pretty much the same like before with addition of few new outlet namely Saccor, Oroton and few others which I can’t recall, probably because the brand is not familiar to me.

We spent about 6 hours there…simply walked in into each and every outlet that we feel we want to look in. Most outlet were having super-duper sales at that time, up to 80% for some stores.

Later at night we went for dinner at Cupchai CafĂ© & Bistro in Bandar Baru Uda…near by Plaza Angsana or close to Jakel. The place to me is quite cool to chill out…it has “kacang pool” a must have menu once you are in Jb! We tried as well its mee rebus, tasty but not the best. Pricing wise is reasonable.

After that we checked in at budget hotel named Creator Hotel in Kulai…yaya one must wonder why on earth I travel from JPO to Bandar Baru Uda then travel back to Kulai where tomorrow morning I m going to Puteri Harbour kan??? Well JB is close to my heart and to me all those area are not so far to each other since all of them are well linked with a toll highway. Jalan2 lah…

About the hotel. I am highly recommending this hotel to all who want cheap stay at reasonable comfort. Located near by main road, big and tall building….easy to spot. Nice deco, very arty and creative actually…better than higher rated hotel in Malaysia. The room is spacious, 32 sqft. Its clean and new, open in year 2014. Price only RM 99 and you also get breakfast voucher at Old Town White Coffer for 2 person. Heaven!

After check out, we went to our ultimate destination of the trip…..Hello Kitty Town in Puteri Harbour. About 40 minits drive from Kulai, using google maps the place is easily located. Our daughter got so excited the moment she saw Hello Kitty character on the building wall and she cries…cries…cries wanted to go into that building huhuhu….

We paid RM 85 each for an adult (3 yrs and above). Below 3 yrs is free so both of our kids are FOC. That amount grant us an access to all theme parks. You may also pay RM 55 to enter only 1 out of the 2 theme park which are Hello Kitty Town and Play park which I forgot the name.

Btw, price stated is for Malaysian ic holder only. In Hello Kitty park you basically will do visit and activities while in the other park it is for games and rides….because I was too eager to try almost everything so we decided to take the combo package of both.

Hello Kitty world (HKW) is a perfect place for your girl lah…..all pink in color! Sort of Kidzania’s set up but the area is smaller hence has lesser activities. It has Hello Kitty house, craft making, biscuits making , photo booth, maze and word search, playground, giant cup ride and of course Kitty’s show at the centre stage.

At level 2….it has ballerina class, pinggu island games centre, bob the builder massive playground and several food stores.

At level 3….it is like indoor theme park in Berjaya Megamall. Just that the rides are less xtreme and suitable for small kids. I tried all but the bump car because at the time I want to play it no one want to play with me and thus no car to bump to huhu. It’s actually pretty fun not only for kids but for us the parents too especially one like me who are not dare enough to ride on any extreme rides in another theme park.

We spent about 5 hours in there and had to rush back home since our journey heading back is about 5 hours. Before that we had our late lunch at The lat’s Place….awesome restaurant in terms of decoration. The whole concept is about Budak Kampung cartoon series.

So that’s about the end of our short and adhoc trip to JB…..

Sibu Island Resort

Assalammualaikum

Disclaimer: i am an indoor type of person.

Cuti sekolah datang lagi! This time kami sekeluarga berjalan ke Sibu Island Resort, Mersing Johor.

Journey from Kerteh is about 4 jam 30 minit drive. Ferry to Sibu Island stationed at Jetty Tg Leman Mersing but please don't get confuse with another Jetty to island located at the Mersing town. Tg Leman is farther than town...about 1 hour drive. Set your gps to kfc Tg Leman or Felda resort.

The ferry only depart twice perday from mainland to resort. 1130 am and 4 pm. Similarly going back to mainland at 10 am and 2 pm.

Apparently this island has only one resort which is SIR which i suspect the nearby islands have other resorts. Practically u had no choice to stay but here in SIR.

The ferry was quite large and able to accomodate 50 passengers at time. It tooks us 30 minits riding on the ferry before reaching our destination. U cant see the panaroma of the sea from inside ferry....pitty.

Once arrived....i really hope to be amazed. But tht wasn't the case. I think it is because i've been to Redang..my mind have some sort of expectation. Comparing both is not an apple to apple but ya....i prefer Redang or even Perhentian.

Compare with Kapas....i guess it about the same in the context of its sand and water quality. Still i like Kapas more because in Kapas you can feel the island mood. Here just too big and to hilly...resort far from sandy beach...i can't really sea the white beach and turqoise sea water.

Went for snorkeling at the beach. Not going to sea park. Got jelly fish but not so many. On second day they prohibited us from snorkeling as they said jelly fish getting more....

There are several xtvt provided by SIR like moonlight walk...we went to see blue sand. Ok it is not a sand in blue color but it is a sea species kind of plankton live in a deep sea...to me it looks like firefly but in blue and green light which actually its blood.

Other than that....it has junggle trekking which i don't try but i believe its fun because the track end up at the hill top. The have archery and flying fox facilities and typical beach xtvt such as banana boat etc.

Food wise...i have no complaint. Decent selection of menu...good taste and fresh materials.

The staff are mostly friendly...helpful and polite. The resort itself quite ok tho a little bit rundown but i am not really fussy about it because i know this is an island. Better than Kapas at least u have electricity and water supply all day and night.

Plus point about SIR is its open zoo concept. Tho not so many but ada peacock, deer, birds, goat....they live freely within the island vancinity and you can simply feed or touch them if u dare haha.

Thts all for now....babai

My Umrah Story

Assalammualaikum

Alhamdulillah last December 2014 aku and wife berpeluang untuk menunaikan ibadah Umrah untuk pertama kali dalam hidup kami. Tho dah ada banyak panduan dan perkongsian tentang umrah, aku still rasa nak share my own sebab aku rasa my own could help those ordinary guy like me….

Kami daftar umrah dalam bulan October with Raihar. Agency ada banyak so pilihla mana2 yang dirasakan baik. Utk aku, pilih Raihar sebab ianya establish mainly in area Pantai Timur ni. Nowadays acap kita dengar pasal pakej umrah yang meragukan rite? So be mindful bila pilih agen.

Dari segi kursus, ada 3 siri disediakan but aku cuma sempat joint latest two of it je, but zaman ni ada banyak sumber like u tube utk self learning.

Time tu musim sejuk so aku bawa la pakaian musim sejuk. Losyen pun wajib, tak payah poyo2 la rasa lelaki tak macho pakai losyen.

Aku memang pergi ala2 nekad….duit kumpul asyik guna ke lain je so kalini taknak kumpul duit dah, register je and hoping that duit akan cukup. Mujur lah cara pembayaran nye bukan sekali gus. Mula2 bayar utk daftar je, after that baru bayar utk hotel dan tambang, last sekali baru bayar habeskan baki so bolehla guna duit gaji bulanan utk tampung bajet diperlukan.

Aku ambil pun pakej ekonomi je, aku duduk bilik ber4 and wife duduk bilik ber2. Yup kami duduk asing atas alasan yang kami berdua sama-sama naif and jahil so hoping that akan dapat roommate yang boleh bagi tunjuk ajar masa di sana nanti. Fikir kami masih muda so kami ambik hotel yang located paling jauh out of hotel2 yang ditawarkan Raihar. Kami memang tak plan nk shopping melainkan sedikit ole2 utk family so cash yg sikit untuk belanja adalah memadai memandangkan urusan lain semuanya telah dibayar melalui agensi termasuk makan dan minum.

Flight kami turun di Jeddah, cheaper than direct to Mekah.

Bandar ni walaupun sibuk and tak pernah tidur tapi kita rasa damai….mungkin sebab jasad baginda Nabi s.a.w ada di sana.

Kat Madinah dah takde alasan nak kata busy dgn kids and works, semua masa duduk masjid je so boleh la nak up sikit ibadah sebelum menuju ke Mekah bagi menunaikan umrah….atleast bersih la sikit.

Masjid Nabawi memang sentiasa diimarahkan dgn pelbagai aktiviti selain solat.

Semua tempat tu agensi akan bawa kita termasuk la ke ladang kurma….maybe a bit misleading where kita actually tak masuk dalam ladang but pegi kedai jual kurma yg located adjacent to ladang. Lain agensi aku tak pasti.

Pada those yang tak bawa or lupa nk bawa kelengkapan umrah, no worry as Madinah has it all. Harga aku tak pasti mana lagi murah sebab aku tak survey as I’ve bought it in Malaysia. Untuk shopping Madinah ada macam2 pilihan barangan. Harga bukanla murah tapi tak juga mahal as our currency value is about the same je so you don’t really feel the advantage la like shopping in Indonesia, Vietnam etc.

Bahasa Melayu diguna secara meluas so jangan risau kalau tak pandai bahasa arab or English. Cuma kena hati-hati dengan sesetengah peniaga yg jenis pushy, kita baru tanya je dia dh grab and bungkus suruh bayar.

Raudhah! Semua orang mesti nak pergi sana kan bila masuk Masjid Nabawi. Untuk lelaki, waktu ke Raudhah is about anytime so carila waktu terbaik supaya tak terlalu sesak dan berebut. Pengalaman aku dtg jam 10 pagi onwards amat mudah nak masuk. Waktu near to solat fardhu and after it is waktu puncak. Untuk wanita ada allocated time so persaingan lebih sengit, my wife cerita memang berlaku insiden tolak menolak dan pijak memijak.

Solat sunat ihram kami buat di Miqat before berniat. Lepas niat di Miqat kami bertolak ke Mekah dgn menaiki bus selama 5 jam perjalanan. Since masatu dah dalam ihram so kena hati2la dgn perkara2 yang dilarang semasa ihram.

Untuk 1st timer macam aku memang that was a bit rush and blurring. Tempat baru and orang ramai, mamai sebab itu waktu tidur so macam kena pukau….ikut je kemana mutawwif bawa dan just buat je apa yang dia buat. Time Nampak Masjidil Haram tu rasa jugakla amaze nye tapi tak berani nak lebih2 sebab takut tertinggal dek mutawwif….kalo lost tak tahu nk kemana sebab 1st time. Time ni Masjidil Haram is heavily undergoing construction so laluan banyak berubah….

Again tak berani gak nak tgk lama2 sebab ramai orang and takut ditinggal mutawwif. Masa tawaf pun tak berani pandang kaabah sebab takut terpaling over and batal pulak tawaf. Haiii memang agak jahil akuni.

Btw, waktu solat both in Mecca and Madina adalah cepat dan dekat2 especially asar till isya’ tu. So normally ramai Jemaah termasuk aku akan stay kat masjid je lepas asar sampai isya’. Lepas zuhur terpaksa balek hotel sebab nak lunch. Isya’ setel by 8 malam so lepas tu baru dinner and tido awal.

Cabaran shopping di Mekah pada aku adalah lebih dasyat sebab Masjidil Haram dikelilingi oleh mega mall as oppose to Masjid Nabawi yg agak humble mall2 nye. Silap haribulan memang kita spend most of our time in mall rather than mosque.

Makan sama je, both mahal….seriously harga makanan mahal. Tapi harga ice cream and juice buah murah pulak, sedap giler plak tu.

Menderma dan wakaf Al Quran sangat meluas di sana so u pick what best for u.

Assalammualaikum...
Harini rasa terpanggil nak share personal experience masa sibuk cari pekerjaan lebih kurang 9 tahun lepas.

Aku graduate tahun 2005, bulan 3. Konvo bulan 8. Dapat kerja yang kekal like sekarang ni bulan Jan 2006. So kalau tengok timeline tu macam tak la lama sangat aku memburu kerja. But proses nye cukup jerih dan tempoh yg tak sampai setahun tu memang cukup menyeksakan.

Masa final sem, aku dan roommate dah mula hantar resume to syarikat2 ternama yg kami tahu..refer yellow pages hehe.

Out of many tu, aku dpt panggilan temuduga drpd DBP utk post marketing eksekutif. That was few weeks before my final exam. Naik kereta api dr Jb turun kl on day trip just to attend the interview. Memang tak berjaya la. Aku tak kisah cuma terkilan dgn alasan DBP je, dia kata awk tak habis belajar lagi, kami nk cari calon yg ready to work. Dahtu nape panggil?  Kan dh tulis dlm resume, date ready to
work. Memang kena sound la pcik2 tu, siapa kenal taula tahap ke blantenan aku hehe. Masa muda lagi lazer rasanye.

Next dpt call drpd RHB bank cwgn Masai. This time we both dapat, me and my roommate. Temuduga tu jatuh pd ari sama kami sit on our final paper in final exam for our final semester...haha byk giler final. Mujur dia buat ptg so abes exam je kami naik moto dr skudai ke masai...aku bonceng jela. Maybe sebab aku tak desperate sgt time tu and lebih pd nk cari exposure on temuduga so aku keep on my playful personality time interview...result tak dpt selalu but eventually aku failed la tmdg tu cuma still happy sebab my roommate dpt that post and dia pun mula la bekerja di sana lepas kami abes belaja.

Meantime aku pre official unemployed. Belum official sebab belum convo hehe. Sambil tunggu panggilan yg lain, aku buat mcm drama melayu tu.. beli paper, tgk iklan jawatan kosong and simply pegi walk in interview. From a few yg aku pegi most jawatan marketing or sales reject aku sebab takde lesen memandu. Aku pun balek kg and ambek lesen memandu...which is kena belaja sekali la sebab x pandai pun memandu.

Lepas dpt lesen aku resume job hunting still ala2 drama melayu tu....turun naek bangunan. Kalini reject gak sebab konon xde kenderaan plak..adoi la camne nk keje kalo kena nk ada belaka ni? Putus asa?? Hampir gakla...

Pernah keje convenient store...half day je sebab kena kira stok beer. Pernah jual buku grolier international..buku tu selalu ada time expo baby....lama sikitla, 2 weeks...sebab aku suka dpt belaja komunikasi in english....the team teach me a lot in english. Last sekali join Ogawa kat subang parade, ni keje sebulan and merasa dpt gaji yeee...dpt gak la komisen sebab berjaya jual 2 brg dgn bantuan manager kedai tu.

Masa nk resign pun boss bodek lagi. Dia kata ur future is good here sebab u r among few malay in Ogawa, if u want i can give u office work at our office in shah alam..masa tu dia baru tau aku ada degree. Tp aku dh nekad nk quick sebab ada offer lain yg aku dh sign pun 1 yr contract.

aku keje plak as data entry kat fis datalink sdn bhd jalan tar. Kontrak setahun gj pun 1.3k je...tp buat je drpd menggangur buang masa. Seronok gak keje dinu sebab senior baek2 belaka...as the youngest and masih bujang selalu jd bahan la kan. Tp hari2 ada org belanja makan so gj ciput pun blh survive la plus ddk rumah mcik n x byr sewa heee thx acik!

Tetiba dpt call drpd affin bank...aku ada apply prog apprentice. Sebab mohon...dia suruh tulis esei pasal diri sendiri 1000 words instead of resume...kind of fun rite? So aku mohon. Time temuduga tu aku sorang je. .pelik. pastu dia bw naek level paling atas sekali, keluar pintu lift tu kosong je areanye...then ada satu pintu bilik besar. Masuk dlm ada 2 org tgh tunggu aku....the ceo himself and Hr dia. Aku rs pelik...apprentice je pun, nape sampai ceo? Pendek cite lepas seminggu dia call kata not selected...okla xde rezeki.

Pastu aku pegi alliance bank pulak...ni lawak sikit. Masa tunggu giliran tu adala sorang uncle dtg...dia tegur n tanya dtg tmdg ke? Aku jwb ye...dia tanya position apa? Aku bgtaula...dia tanya tau x keje apa tu....aku jwb x tau. Dia pun bgtau n later tanya so minat tak? Aku jwb tak. Dia pun pergi. Aku terus menunggu, ha kena jawab test gak sambil tu. Then bila kena panggil masuk bilik tmdg aku nampak uncle tu....dia senyum je. Aku pun senyum and dia tanya...nk teruskan? Aku malu2 kata xpela...sy balek dulu.

One fine day...aku dpt another phone call. He claimed he is from petronas. Aku blur, bila pulak aku apply. Lupa sebab byk sgt apply. Rupanya aku pernah isi online application kat petronas website.

Temuduga pg jumaat kat twin tower...jakun sebab 1st time masuk the most iconic building in town. Sambil tu aku pegi toilet, sebab tak biasa dgn pancuran dia abes basah seluar ku huhu. Mujur color hitam so org x notice tapi sejuk la dgn aircond lagi.

simple je temuduga nye....masuk bilik tu just borak2 pasal artikel td then ada skit role play. Mmg makanan akula cara temuduga cmtu. Tak sia2 aku belaja teater haha. Boleh menang award aku rs utk lakonan aku masa role play tu.

Time balek plak nk jd drama...tayar bus pancit. So kami beramai ramai tersadai tgh jalan. Macam2.

After a week aku dpt call dr a lady plak bgtau aku berjaya dlm tmdg tu...yeaa. Now kena pergi Kerteh plak utk chit chat dgn my future boss....

1st time travel ke kerteh n pantai timur. Naek bus n tak tau mana nk stop. Bgtau abg bus tu nk stop tempat yg ada api. Sampai Gebeng nmpak api sibuk nk stop tp abg tu kata ni bukan kerteh dik...ooo

Bila sampai kerteh byk plak apinya....dah nk turun kt mana? Abg tu pun jln terus sampai dah xde api. Dia kata turun jela dik, api xde dh depan nu. Masa tu jam 4 subuh...slumber badak call kakak HR tu minta tolong...sy nak kemana ni? Alhamdulillah rupanya lokasi tu betul2 depan ethylene. So aku pun pegila balai pengawal bgtau nk tmdg....Polis bantuan tgk aku semacam je...subuh2 nk tmdg mende . Dia suruh duk luar haha... jam 6 pg baru dia bg masuk utk solat subuh....tq

Time balek dr kerteh pun best. Tak beli tiket balek pun haha. Bajet kerteh mcm KL...senang je dpt bus. Terpaksala naik bus lompat ke kuantan. Dr kuantan baru naek bus xpress ke kl. Sampai rnr temerloh plak solat lama over sampai kena tinggal dgn bus. Mujur dpt tumpang bus lain huuu

Lepas seminggu keje dgn PET kat kerteh tetiba affin bank call semula. Kata nak ambek aku keje bahgian lain walupun x berjaya utk prog apprentice tu. Aku tolak dgn baek n bgtau dh keje dgn pet. Kakak yg call tu ckp ooo kalo pet elok la dik...stay je situ.

Ok kesimpulan yg aku nk share dgn adik2 ialah...

1. Jgn memilih....keje remeh manapun boleh jd pengalaman berguna utk keje yg lbh mencabar.

2. Persiapkan diri dgn basic mcm lesen etc. English. Komunikasi. Penampilan...kasi tip top. Byk buat sales boleh polish semua tu.

3. Study sikit pasal sesuatu position yg kita mohon. Jgn semberono sampai jd mcm aku haha.

4. Jgn dgr ckp org. Kalau rs nk mohon tu mohon je. Takyah tunggu kawan. Hantar je resume. Bukan kena byr pun....dpt or tak itu rezeki.

5. Be true to urself. No harm kalo nampak jakun pun hehe.

6. Sabarrrrrr and redho.

bai n wasssalam.

Denggi.....

Assalammualaikum.

Lama sungguh tak update blog yg hidup segan mati tak mahu ni. Ada 1 entry je in 2014 and sedar2 dah pun masuk 2015 haha.

Perhaps life aku is pretty full and buzy with office works and houseworks too, especially nak jaga baby Hadi yg sdg membesar dgn sihat dan kuat tu.

Pagi ni ada free time sikit sebab dalam bilik wad tunggu kakak Hana yg masih tido. Aku rs bosan and tak tahu nk buat apa so buka la blog ni jap.

Now is musim denggi. Semalam menteri kesihatan ckp its the worse ever in terms of statistics. Kakak Hana pun is part of the stats now. Dia demam last friday, bw pergi klinik rantau suhu cecah 39 and doctor suruh buat blood test. True enuf mmg ada virus denggi dlm darah dia...lucky her sebab doctor detect awal. That time platelet still normal at 233.

Doktor bagi ubat demam and advised suruh minum banyak air. Denggi ni kata doktor takde ubat cuma air dalam badan kena cukup sebab dia akan attack air and sebabkan darah jd beku. Time demam doktor said tak bahaya sgt sebab her body will produce natural immunisasi to fight denggi virus. Tapi virus akan mengganas bila demam dah kebah later.

Again true enuf, time demam platelet dia drop to very minimal. But once dia dah sihat dr demam, plalelet dia drop abruptly from 191 to 156. Because dia baru nk masuk 2 yrs so doktor suruh masuk hospital...kena pegi swasta sebab gov will not accept kes yg plalelet atas 100 kata doktor. Logic la kan, ramai lg org lain kena denggi yg severe so mana ada katil kalo just utk monitoring.

Btw, Hana warded pun lepas hari ke 5 detect. Memula kami monitor at home je. Bagi dia minum byk air...tak kisahla air apa janji bukan air arak kata doktor hahaha. Kami masak gak sup ketam nipah as per commonly belief by most tht it cud fight the virus...no harm trying. Tp taula budak, payah nk paksa dia consume those byk2....so masuk spital jela boleh drip...

Hari ni 3 hari dah dlm wad....bacaan platelet still ok which is above 150 but the trend tu is fluctuating. Selagi dia x consistently naik doktor kata tak boleh balek....huhu. Part of ayah yg dh lama cuti and tinggal keje kat opis nu, kesian gak kat Hana sebab dh bosan duk sini....asyik cakap nak balek. Bilik ni xde channel utk kids pun...books dia pun x bawa aritu hmmm

So semua jagala persekitaran rumah and kejiranan sebab denggi ni boleh kena kat sesiapa je. Kalau ditakdirkan demam, terus pergi klinik yg ada lab fasiliti and buat blood test...the sooner the better. Alhamdulillah Hana tak suffer macam normal pesakit denggi...dia stays aktive berkat doa semua and early treatment given to her.

Thanks to all yg sudi mendoakan Hana dan bertanya kaba tentang dia. Sy doakan none of you will ever experience the same. Insyaallah.

bai and wassalam

New Family Member!

Segala puji bagi Allah, Tuhan semesta alam....

24.04.2014...satu lagi tarikh penting dlm sejarah hidup aku. Lebih kurang jam 145 minit pagi, wifey selamat melahirkan anak kedua kami yg merupakan seorang bayi lelaki dgn keberatan 3.3kg.

Imbas kembali, pagi 23hb. Masatu aku dh siap nk pergi keje, Hana pun dh dukung nk hantar ke baby sitter. Tetiba wifey kata ada blood n cecair putih...so kami decided to pergi klinik n dptkan nasihat doctor since now pun dh 38 weeks, maybe its about time.

Lepas doctor klinik rantau periksa, dia nasihat kami pergi terus ke hospital sebab dia rasa most probably nk bersalin. Kami mcm berbelah bagi sebab takde contraction pun, last2 setuju jela.

Balek rumah jap amek barang, hantar Hana kat rumah mak bukit kuang and kami terus gegas ke KMC. Sampai KMC pergi tingkat 2 utk ctc, about 1240 in the noon. Ctc reading kata takde contraction lagi, midwife tanya nk balek dulu ke or nk jumpa doktor? Aku rs penat plak kalo balek kerteh semula..alang2 dh drive sejam 30 minit, jumpa jela doktor.

Tunggu turn nk jumpa dr Su sampai jam 6! Patah pinggang. Sempat la kami p mkn sushi kat megamall..mahal n x byk selection mcm sushi king pun tp dah wifey teringin.

Dr Su kata jln dh buka 1cm...so nk masuk wad ke nk balek? Hmmm malas aku nk balek since jln dh buka.

Dlm wad, wifey dh start sakit2....finally ada contraction. Still aku fikir esok gak kot bersalin. Tp maken mlm maken kuat plak sakit wifey...last2 about 12 ++ midnite tu kami called nurse n minta cek. Bidan dtg tgk2 and said nk bersalin dh ni.

Minute after, dia dtg bw wheelchair n ready to bw wifey ke labor. Masuk bilik tu which is still very familiar to me sebab rasa mcm baru je masuk last yr hoho...bidan semua org yg sama..

Kalini aku takla panik sgt as opposed to time Hana dulu. Wifey mmg mengerang sakit tp Kalini dia muntah sekali je and aku lebih calm and compose...tau apa nl buat. Still rs takut tu ada gak sebab bende yg libatkan nyawa....

As usual bila kelibat dr su muncul je dr dedaun pintu, terus rasa lega and selamat. Dia memang terbaek la...dia sgt pro n cool...dia bg aku rs we r in a good hands, nothing to worry. Then dia buat keje dia mcm sepatutnya..45 minit pastu keluarla anak lelaki kami yg insyaallah bakal dinamakan Muhammad Hadi Yusuf bin Muhazam Shah.

KL Bird Park

Assalammualaikum...

Tetiba aktif pula berblogging, harini nak share my 1st time experience visiting KL Bird Park. Actually dari kecik arwah maklong selalu bw jln2 area lake garden, national monument, national mosque ni semua tapi tak pernah masuk taman burung n taman2 lain di sekitar yg berbayar heee.

Now dh ada anak rasa tertarik nak pergi utk dekatkan anak pd nature kononnya. To those yg tak familiar with its location, just look for planetarium negara or memorial Tun Razak. To me these two are the nearest place to the park, i even parked my car at the memorial. We talk later about it.

The park!  Really hugeee and infact world largest!  Proud to be Malaysian haha. Most area covered by a gigantic net making the area as the largest bird nest on earth, perhaps hehe.

For us Malaysian, we need to pay RM 25 for adult and RM 15 for kids. While for foreigner, they need to pay RM 48 for adult...sorry folks! Its open daily from 9 am till 6 pm.

It has several showcases, but we were only managed to catch parrot show at the amphitheater at 1230 noon. Only twice per day.

For birds lover, u gusy will surely enjoy it. For me...i enjoyed my experience, so many types of birds which most of them I've never seen.

The area is large enough to make u tired and thus pls bring along mineral water and u kids stroller! Which we did not.

Gift shop pun ada, price is quite ok and so many cutie birdie merchandises. There's also a restaurant named hornbill restaurant and cafe which also covered under the net so that u can still watch the birds fly freely within that net. The foods were tasty but a bit pricey to my pocket...

Last we visited the memorial as well since our car was there. Very beautiful building, architecally. Used to be official resident of the late Tun Razak while he was in service as prime minister. Strategic place to visit after the park bcoz it is fully air conditioned. Nice place to catch ur breath after hours of walking.

So next time u r free, pls visit the place.

Mohd Chan - chinese muslim restaurant

Assalammualaikum..

Nihau? Haha tetiba mood cakap mandarin kan. Btw, sempena Gong Xi Fa Cai ni aku balek kampung. Tg Krg ni dekat je dgn Kuala Selangor and KS plak mmg famously known for its seafood restaurants.

Cuma masalahnya mostly operated by non muslim and ada kepala rimau so aku tak berani nak try. Sebab tu tiap kali org luar tanya aku pasal seefood di KS, aku tak bg komen sebab had never try pun.

Kalini kira bertuah sebab dh ada buka sebuah restoran cina muslim, Mohd Chan nama dia...comel kan?  Mcm Jacky Chan masuk islam je bunyinya.

Restoran ni baru je buka kat new shop lot building yg located behind McD tu. Easy to spot bcoz dari jln besar tu dh clear nampak signboardnya. Based on carian foursquare, ada byk dh branch. KS ni kira the newest.

Ok. Jom review pasal restoran ni plak ek. We were warmly greeted by bro Mohd Chan himself, friendly and polite. Parking pun considered easy at night bcoz neighboring stores are all closed. Single storey je so quite pack, mujur dtg awal. Better call and make reservation so that u dun have to wait quite long to get ur food ready.

About the food. We ordered food that we seldomly eat only, the menu variety is good but mostly similar to any other malay restaurant.

Roasted duck - nice taste but slightly overcooked and hence dried.

Chili Crab - most wanted menu, i've been craving for it since ages! Dunno where to find it..yg sure halal. Tq Mohd Chan..finally i found it. Sedapppp. Tu je nk cakap. Ketam fresh n byk isi.

Four season - ni ala2 platter la. Inside the plate ada 4 dishes yg hot, cold, and other 2 tu x sure what season hehe. Sedap baby octopus dgn sesame sos. Udang with mayonnaise. Scramble egg with mushrooms and 1 more dish yg i did not try.

That's it! Sayang dim sum habes so tak dapat cuba.

Overall, puas hati and maybe will come again in future.

Selamat mencuba!

Colmar Tropical Resort

Assalamualaikum!

Bulan December memang byk travel since wifey pun is on long leave (school holiday)

This time saje poyo2 nak review sebuah resort yg located on top of Bukit Tinggi, Colmar Tropical. I guess tempat ni is famous among locals sebab dah lama pun dibuka.

Kalau dari KL tu dekat je, tempat ni pun tak luas mana so boleh la nak buat short trip without having to stay overnight. My visit this time pun memang adhoc je, otw home from my mom's house, tetiba rasa lapar and nak makan western so terus teringat Bukit Tinggi!

Suhu pun quite chill but not as cold as Genting or Cameron. Last 6 yrs it was cooler than now.

Kami sampai lepas zuhur so matahari tgh tepacak atas kepala, panas! Kedai makan adala beberapa tapi semuanya western je and bakery. Orang ramai maybe sebab cuti sekolah so restoran penuh. Lucky still dapat tempat duduk. Menu nampak menarik and kami order ayam bakar ala2 kat KR je tapi harga dia slightly mahal. Mujur rasa dia best.

Lepas makan kami sempat tgk dance show dari acrobatic group yg berasal dr China. Sebelum tu kami pusing2 tgk fun fair and later p snap pic dgn swan.

Oleh kerana masa terhad kami tak sempat nk pergi lawat taman arnab, taman jepun and club house. Last time aku pergi tempat2 tu agak menarik la gak...bolehla nk rasa pakai kimono and belajar buat teh.

Overall tempat ni best utk short vacation and just nak lari dari kesibukan kerja. Those yg pernah pergi langkawi cable car, kat bwh tu kan ada english town...ha sama jela macam tempat ni cuma lokasi la cantik sikit...atas bukit.

So next time terasa nk ke europe, feel free to visit this place ye...

My Kuching Expedia

Assalammualaikum...

Dah lama tak tulis blog. Mainly sebab busy dgn daily routine plus takde apa pun nak story.

Harini rasa nk share my experience on my second trip to Kuching. Purposely want to write it in english though i know my proficiency is moderate haha...just in case some foreigner google about Kuching and end up reading my entry so i can help them to know Kuching better...yoyo ja

Btw, as always my trip was a budget trip with short duration and limited area of visit. I booked the package via expedia (3 days 2 nights) for 2 adults and 1 infant. We flew air asia and stayed at Four Points hotel for a cost of rm1k.

Let's talk about the flight 1st. Honestly i fly very seldom with air asia because normally my company paid me MAS. But when i have to pay by myself, surely i choose air asia. Alhamdulillah, it went smooth as scheduled. No delay.

2nd about the hotel. It's located closest to the Kuching International Airport. One reason why i chose that hotel. It has shuttle service from n to airport/hotel and town as well. Sounds good ha? My second reason choosing that hotel. Oh ya it is also part of Sheraton group of hotel, sound promising kan? Wait a minute! Touched down je i called the hotel to pick me up from airport and got this reply..

Sorry sir but our driver is on leave today, can you get a taxi pls? Nonsense kan? Ofcoz la i have to get a taxi...u expect me to walk just to save my Rm 17?

Within 10 minutes’ drive, we reached the hotel. The entrance was a major flop! It seems like budget hotel version Hilton wannabe. It is actually a 4 stars hotel which supposed to be good. Unfortunately, poor maintenance has bring them down to its lowest point. Positive thing is we can check in into our room at 11 am which is early. Staff as polite as they should be. Food not so much variety but eatable. Scenery not overwhelming bcoz too far from waterfront area. Cleanliness can be improved further. Overall...Not recommended.

Day 1. We started our exploration at 4pm. Thanks to the limited shuttle service time. We stopped at riverside mall, heavy rain. Met few local people, they helped us to mobilize from the bus stop into the mall because we have no umbrella. Just hanging inside the mall while eating some delicious western food served at Ayamku...local instant restaurant. 2 hours later, we resumed our journey to see what interesting in Kuching. We went to waterfront, ride a boat to cross the river heading to kampong boyan which famous for their kek lapis. There is also one big food court selling many types of local and western food near by the riverbank. But we were just too full to eat. So we headed straight to mira kek lapis.

After that we found terubuk masin ajun...another signature dish of sarawak...i mean the terubuk masin. Very reasonably priced but yet to test the taste. We crossing back to the city centre and walked along the riverbank where you can see sarawak Adun building and astana at opposite site. Chinese Museum and Ford Margaretha at the city centre site. Our exploration ended at the court house nearby jalan India. Because all shops were closed by that time so we decided to go back. Taxi is not that easy to ride in Kuching. We were lucky because at the bus station earlier, we were approached by pakcik mansor a taxi driver, he gave us his name card and asked us to call him when in need. True enough, we need him that night..

Day 2. We started earlier at 11 am. After another disappointment with the shuttle, we decided to get a taxi to city centre. Today we just do shopping! Many stores with variety of craft offered at reasonable price along shop houses adjacent to the waterfront.

Too bad for us, not having sufficient info about the town. Very little info is available. Hard to find place to eat a decent local food. We depend solely to taxi driver. We went to satok lunch and went back to kg boyan for dinner....imagine the distance and time we have to consume. Lucky us, because of that we had accidentally walked over Sarawak museum and little india...very cool place to be.

Day 3. We just staying at the hotel...playing in the pool and packing our stuff to go home.

Overall, Kuching to me is the cleaniest city in Malaysia..I've went to all major cities. The people are very warm and nice. We feel very safe even walking at night. The motorists pun were all well behave on road, i feel like I'm out of Malaysia because their attitude is totally different. You won't find any car to stop and allow u.to cross busy road in peninsular....respect!

Food has a lot of variety and cheap too...taste very good and halal.

Hope i will come to Kuching again next time...

Employment Act 1955

Introduction

The Employment Act 1955 is an Act, which provides for the protection of employees in Malaysia. It covers the sates of Peninsular Malaysia including the Federal Territory of Labuan whereas Sabah and Sarawak have their own Labor Laws in the form of Sabah Labor Ordinance and the Sarawak labor Ordinance. The Act specifies the term and conditions service like working hours, rest day, notice periods, wages, deduction and others. It also gives details of fringe benefit entitlement like medical leave, annual leave, public holidays and overtime rates.

The Act forms the basis of employment contracts between employer and employee because it spells out the minimum terms and conditions of employment for employees who are covered under the EA as per The First Schedule of The Act. However, employers are free to provide better terms but a penalty awaits organizations that provide inferior terms.

The Act

In work place, relationship between employer and employee is also sometime known as “master and servant” relationship. It begins once parties entered into a Contract of service whether in oral or writing and whether express or implied, whereby one person agrees to employ another as an employee and that other agrees to serve his employers as an employee.

In that respect both parties are offering and expecting something in return. Master for instance is offering a wages and expecting servant to come to work. Wages under the Act is basic wages and all other payments in cash payable to employee for work done. The Act has also stated the limitation related to wages in Part 3 of the Act.

Under section 19 (1) every employer shall pay the wages to his employee not later than the 7th day after the last day of wage period. The wage period shall not exceed one month as per section 18.

No employer shall make an advance of wages which exceeds the amount earned in the preceding month unless such advance is made to enable him under Section 22 (1)

(a) to buy or improve a house

(b) to buy land

(c) to buy livestock

(d) to buy motorcar, motorcycle or bicycle

(e) to buy shares in the company

(db)to buy a computer

(dc) to pay for medical expenses of self and immediate family members

(dd) to pay for daily expenses for temporary disablement

(de) to pay for educational expenses for self and immediate family.

Under Part 4, Section 24 (2), the Act allows employer to deduct employee’s wages (4.1) for the following purposes:

(a) Overpayment of wages made during the immediately three months

(b) Indemnity due to the employer by the employee arising from the unexpired days of notice terminating the CS

(c) Recovery of advance of wages

(d) Authorized by law i.e.; EPF, SOCCO, CP38 etc

(e) Requested in writing by the employee for union or co-operative society entrance fee, subscription, installments and interest on loan or other dues and payment of shares in the company

However, under section 8 of the Act, The total deduction in respect of any month shall not exceed 50% of the wages earned by the employee in that month. This limitation however under Section 9 shall not apply to:

(a) Deduction from the indemnity payable by employer to employee under section13 (1)

(b) Deduction from the final payment of the wages of an employee for any amount due to the employee on termination of the employee

(c) Deduction for the repayment of housing loan which subject to prior written permission from Director General.

Employer is required In Part 5, which specifies system of payment of wages to pay the wages into an account at a bank, finance company, financial institution or other institution licensed or established under Banking and Institutions Act 1989 in any part of Malaysia in the name of the employee. Section 25 (1)

* Malaysia's Industrial Court and Industrial Arbitration Tribunal, in some of their judgments, have indicated some factors that should be considered in determining wage rates and wage levels. In one Industrial Court case, the Court determined that in fixing wage levels, employers should;

(a) Compare their wage levels with that of similar or related industries.

(b) Consider whether their wage levels are fair, giving due consideration to the cost of living.

(c) Take into account their financial capacity to meet such wage levels.

In another case, the Industrial Arbitration Tribunal stated that due consideration should be given to the following factors in determining wage and salary levels and increases:

(a) The cost of living.

(b) The wages and salaries paid by comparable establishments in the same region.

(c) Any inconsistencies in the wage and salary structure of the company itself.

(d) The financial capacity of the company to institute wage and salary increases.

In addition, the Tribunal pronounced that employers should consider factors such as labor productivity, prevailing wage rates in similar industries in the same region and the present economic condition as well as the future prospects of the industry in determining wage levels

In return to the wages paid by company, employee is expected to provide their service and to come to work. Here, employer should observe part 10 of The Act which stresses on Rest days, Hours of works, Holidays and other condition of service.

Rest Day

Section 59 of the Act specifies that every employee shall be allowed in each week a rest day of one whole day. The rest day need not be Sunday or Friday but could be any day of the week so long as the employee has been informed trough a roster before the beginning of the month.

This rule on rest day will not apply if an employee is on maternity leave, sick leave, or temporary disablement leave under SOCSO or the Workmen’s Compensation Act.

If a company works on a five-day week with two off days, then the second off day is the official rest day. Conversely, if the company observes three rest day, for example, in a four crew shift cycle roster, then it is a third day which will be the official rest day, while the preceding two days would be off days entitling the employee to normal overtime rate if required by employer.

Under section 59(1B) of The Act, it makes it possible for the employer with the approval of the Director General, to grant the rest days on any day during the month. For example, if the employer wishes to permit the employees to accumulate their rest days and take four rest days consecutively like in the case of Genting Hingland’s workers.

For employees engaged in shift work, a rest day is a period of any 30 consecutive hours free from work.

Under section 60 (1), no employee shall be compelled to work on a rest day unless he is engaged in work which need to be carried on continuously or by a succession of shifts. Exceptions are when there is an emergency as provided for in section 60A (2) of The Act as follows:

• Accident, actual or threatened, in or with respect to his place of work

• Work, the performance of which is essential to the life of the community

• Work essential for the defense or security of Malaysia

• Urgent work to be done to machinery or plant

• An interruption of work which it was impossible to foresee

• Work to be performed by employees in any industrial undertaking essential to the economy of Malaysia or any essential services as defined in the Industrial Relations Act 1967.

Hours of Work

Section 60 A (1) of The Act specifies that no employee shall be required to work:

(a) more than 5 consecutive hours without a rest of not less than 30 minutes

(b) more than 8 hours a day

(c) more than a spread over period of 10 hours a day

(d) more than 48 hours a week

“spread over period” of work in “c” above means a continuous period calculated from the time employee starts work for the day, up to the time he stops work, including any period of rest or break within the continuous period. Example of work is personal drivers or waiters who do not perform continuous work during the day.

An employee who is engaged in work which must be carried on continuously and which requires his continual attendance, however, may be required to work for eight consecutive hours inclusive 45 minutes break. In addition, the Director General of Labor may on the written application of an employer, grant permission to the employer to enter into a contract of service to work in excess of these limits.

Employer must observe they agreed working hours with employee and must not force employee to work beyond the agreed hours. Industrial court of Malaysia in the case of Pn Vasanthi A/P Suvalingam Vs Price Solution Sdn Bhd has decided that Price Solution Sdn Bhd (a company) had breached the fundamental term of its contract (employment contract) when they had forced Pn Vasanthi to work more than her normal working hours.

Overtime

Overtime means the numbers of hours of work carried out in excess of the normal hours of work per day. Work on rest days and public holidays shall however not be construed as overtime.

The maximum hours of overtime allowed to be done are determined by the Minister of Human Resources. The current maximum overtime hours is 104 hours per month. Section 60A (7) states that no employee is allowed to work for more than 12 hours in any one day, except in emergencies like accident or urgent work to machinery as described earlier under section 60 A (2). This provision would mean that even if overtime is paid, the limit is still 12 hours.

Notwithstanding the above, an employee who is engaged in shift work may be required to work more than 8 hours a day or more than 48 hours a week but the average number of hours worked over any period of 3 weeks shall not exceed 48 hours per week

Holidays

All employees shall be entitled to a minimum of 11 paid public holidays in one calendar year (sec. 60D (1)). Five of these holidays are specified as follows;

I. The National Day

II. Birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong

III. Birthday of the Ruler/Yang di-Pertua Negeri/Federal Territory Day

IV. The Workers' Day

V. Malaysia Day

If the paid public holiday falls on a rest day, then the Act provides that the following day shall be the substituted paid public holiday. The employer can then choose any six of the remaining public holiday for which employee will be paid. These six shall be exhibited clearly at the place of employment before the commencement of each calendar year, so that employer will know which the holidays to be observed in the company are. (sec 60D (1A))

Section 60D (2) states that any unexcused absence immediately before or after a public holiday will result in loss of holiday pay. If an employee is on sick leave on a paid public holiday, section 60D (1B) of the Act provides that the employer shall grant another day as a paid holiday in substitution. However, this substituted day off does not necessarily have to be the first working day following the holiday.

Annual Leave

Section 60E (1) of the Act provides an employee shall be entitled to paid annual leave as follows:

• Less than 2 years’ in service = 8 days a year

• 2 to 5 years’ service = 12 days a year

• More than 5 years’ service = 16 days a year

According to the Act, in proportioning annual leave, any fraction of a day which is less than half shall be disregarded, and where the fraction of the day is half or more, it shall be regarded as one day.

In the reported case of Kong Brothers Engineering Works Sdn. Bhd. v. Daniel Anmany Susemaikam (2004), the Court remarked that the act of leaving the work place without leave or deliberately staying away from work is a violation of discipline and amounts to willful insubordination.

OP Malhotra in his book “The Law of Industrial Disputes” (2nd Edition), said: “No employee can claim leave of absence as a matter of right, and remaining absent without leave will itself constitute gross violation of discipline. Hence, continued absence from work without permission will constitute misconduct justifying the discharge of a workman from service”.

Therefore, employee must inform or attempt to inform the company and obtained necessary approval prior to the leave.

Summary

The Act serves as a very important document to regulate master and servant relationship since it spells out must be provided to servant. Any master that does not provide the minimum terms and conditions as specified in the Act will be guilty of an offence and subject to penalties.

As an HR practitioner, one of our key objectives is to ensure legal compliance to all the labor legislation in the country, to ensure that the company is not subject to any penalties for breaking the law. Besides the cost involved when a company is penalized, it is important to avoid embarrassment to the image of the company.

The Act if it had been strictly adhered will helps to create industrial
